The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended the ongoing IPL 2025 due to growing tensions between India and Pakistan.

The decision came after Thursday’s match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was called off during the first innings. The match was initially stopped because of a floodlight issue. However, around the same time, reports emerged about a suspected drone attack in parts of Jammu by Pakistan. With the situation worsening, the match was officially abandoned, and fans were evacuated from the stadium for safety.

A total of 58 matches have been played so far this season, including the abandoned one in Dharamsala. Twelve league matches were still left to be played, along with two qualifiers, an eliminator, and the final.

Today’s match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) was also scheduled at the Ekana Stadium. Given the current situation, BCCI’s decision to suspend the tournament puts the safety of players and the country first.
